”In 1974, the ”Handbuch der Lichtwerbung” (Handbook of illuminated Advertising) by Gerhard Gut was published. This first comprehensive reference book in German dealt mainly with the advertising medium from a technical perspective and has been out of print for a long time. In the meantime, technology has evolved and new materials have emerged - reason enough to initiate the creation of a new handbook of this kind. Because of the lack of generally accessible information explaining the possibilities of illuminated advertising, this book has been created as a reference for customers and other interested people. facts with easily comprehensive Pictures. Any explanations of the special knowledge and the craftmanship required for manufacturing illuminated advertising signs was intentionally excluded from this book and has been left to a later complementary publication.
The authors deliberately avoided any competitive aspects and tried not to wear ”professional blinkers”. The majority of photos shown in this book represent personal impressions and were taken spontaneously by the authors whose interest in illuminated advertising continues even after work has finished.”
